Current hours are by appointment only (link)
Appointments to use the Makerspace can be made Monday – Friday 12PM to 4PM. These appointments are 30 min or longer and must be scheduled at least 12 hours in advance. Please specify in the description the equipment/tools you plan to use while in the Makerspace.
Appointments are for the specific individual. Each user should make their own appointment to use the studio.
If you want to use the Laser Cutter or mini-mill, please make an appointment for that equipment. 3D printing operations will continue as usual during break, except for the interval when we are completely closed.
COVID-19 Update: We will resume regular semester hours on Monday, January 31st 2022.
The Spartan Light Metal Products Makerspace is a place where Washington University students, faculty, and staff will bring innovative ideas to life and join together to develop ideas that will impact the community and the world. We welcome both those who are new to making and experienced makers into a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.
- Individuals paying for 3D print jobs and laser cutting materials must use BearBucks. For courses or research labs, see How do I charge to my course or research lab? in our FAQs.
- Printer files will be prepared by members and submitted through 3DPrinterOS (see How do I submit a 3D print job in FAQs). Makerspace staff will start the print job and notify the user when it is ready for pick up. Training for the 3D printers can be found on Safety Spot.
Laser Cutter and Bantam Minimill Appointments
- The laser cutter and Bantam Minimill both make a lot of noise when run. Since there will be classes in the makerspace during the week, we are restricting usage of the laser cutter and minimill to non-class times. You must complete the laser or cutter or minimill training on Safety Spot before you can use them.
