Additional On-Campus Resources

  • Sam Fox School’s Digital Fabrication Lab: supports studio and coursework assignments, as well as independent research projects conducted by students and faculty. Beyond the fabricating equipment and tools typically found in wood and metal shops, the School’s equipment includes laser cutters, three-axis CNC routers, and plastic 3-D printers.
  • Department of Chemistry’s Machine Shop: equipped machine shop with computer controlled milling machines and computer controlled lathe. We have precision lathes, programmable indexing head and rotary table, sheet metal and wood-working shops, ironworker and welders.
  • Physics Machine Shop: a technical support facility whose primary function is to provide assistance to the students, faculty, researchers and administration in the machining and manufacturing of parts and assemblies.
  • Instrument Machine Shop at Washington University School of Medicine: a fully equipped shop and fabrication facility. It provides complete services in the design, fabrication and repair of parts, instruments and equipment. The shop serves all Washington University departments as well as off-campus customers not affiliated with the university.
  • In-House Fabrication Team at Washington University School of Medicine: provides fabrication, modification, design and technical services. The team serves all Washington University departments as well as off-campus customers not affiliated with the University.
