Fabrication - Self
On-campus facilities where you can receive training and fabricate items yourself.
Caleres Fabrication Studio
Supports studio and coursework assignments, as well as independent research projects conducted by students and faculty. Beyond the fabricating equipment and tools typically found in wood and metal shops, the School’s equipment includes laser cutters, three-axis CNC routers, and plastic 3-D printers.
Engineering Student Machine Shops
These facilities at the McKelvey School of Engineering provide students the training and opportunity to learn and practice hands-on manufacturing techniques in a safe and supervised environment. We also offer instructional support to students, faculty and staff from the School of Engineering, as they work on class projects, research, and student club team design competitions.
Glass Shop
The chemistry glass shop provides for the construction of special Pyrex and quartz glass laboratory apparatus. To this end, the shop is equipped with a four-inch glassblower's lathe, an annealing oven, a carborundum cut-off wheel, and a variety of burners.
Neurotech Hub
The Neurotech Hub within the Department of Neuroscience engages with the community and provides scientific, technological, or professional resources. Our shop contains tooling from precision laser cutters to high-resolution 3D printers that will accelerate in-house ideation, prototyping, and one-of-a-kind applications. Membership is offered to departments, research labs, and individual WashU users.
